WCPFC and CCSBT are the only two RFMOs with dedicated web pages for their harvest strategies efforts. Hopefully, more RFMOs will follow suit and create similar central clearinghouses for all harvest strategy-related documents, including development details, workplans and management measures. Workplans detailing timelines and goals associated with progressing harvest strategies are linked for other RFMOs without harvest strategies landing pages.

Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)

• Harvest Strategy; WCPFC’s extensive harvest strategy web page includes download links for workplans and key documents that outline draft policies and MSE specifications. This page also summarizes current progress of each of the RFMO’s stock-specific harvest strategies.

Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)

• Management Procedure Landing Page; CCSBT outlines the history of their precedent-setting management procedure for Southern bluefin tuna, along with key specifications.

Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)

• Work plan for Management Strategy Evaluations (MSE); Page 9, IATTC specifies the development, communication and evaluation of harvest strategies for tropical tuna fisheries in the EPO involving managers, industry, scientists, and other stakeholders.

International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)

• Road Map For The Development of Management Strategy Evaluation (MSE) and Harvest Control Rules (HCR); ICCAT has compiled a roadmap for the development of MSE and HCRs for Northern albacore, bluefin tuna, Northern swordfish, and tropical tunas.

Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)

• Schedule of work for the development of management procedures for key species in the IOTC Area; Updated in 2021, the IOTC outlines timelines for management procedure development for albacore, skipjack, yellowfin, bigeye, and swordfish.

North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)

• SC Five-Year Research Plan and Work Plan of the Scientific Committee, page 28; The Scientific Committee’s workplan for all research across the RFMO, including harvest strategy development timelines for Pacific saury, chub mackerel, Japanese flying squid, and other stocks.
