New Tool Launch: Harvest Strategy Tracker – Global Progress at a Glance

We’re excited to share the Harvest Strategy Tracker, a new interactive tool on HarvestStrategies.org that brings transparency and clarity to the global rollout of harvest strategies, also known as management procedures.

This sortable and filterable tracker offers a comprehensive, up-to-date snapshot of harvest strategy development and implementation for international fisheries across regional fisheries management organizations (RFMOs). For each stock, users can quickly see whether harvest strategies are planned, in development, or already adopted and in place, helping interested parties, including stakeholders, scientists, and decision-makers identify where progress is being made and where more action is needed.

There is also a “stalled” category, which highlights stocks for which harvest strategy development has started but there has been no progress in at least 6 months. Our rating methodology can be found at the bottom of the Tracker page.

The Tracker is relevant to efforts to meet Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification requirements, which now call for clear milestones toward the adoption and implementation of precautionary, MSE-tested harvest strategies in RFMO-managed fisheries.

By making this information accessible and easy to navigate, the Tracker aims to support better-informed discussions, promote accountability, and ultimately accelerate the adoption of precautionary, science-based harvest strategies worldwide.

👉 Check out the Harvest Strategy Tracker, and see how your region or priority stock measures up. If you think a stock is missing or you disagree with our rating, please let us know! We welcome feedback to ensure the Tracker remains as accurate and useful as possible.
