Common Oceans Tuna Fisheries Project

The Sustainable Management of Tuna Fisheries and Biodiversity Conservation in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (ABNJ) Project is dedicated to promoting responsible and sustainable tuna fishing practices. Our goal is to safeguard marine biodiversity and ensure the long-term health of our oceans, all while adapting to the challenges of a rapidly changing climate.

Led by The Ocean Foundation with support from the Common Oceans Tuna Fisheries Project, the initiative is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The project serves as a hub of innovation and collaboration, uniting fisheries policy, science, and marine conservation experts. By advancing harvest strategies and fostering sustainable management practices, the project drives forward-thinking solutions to global challenges in international tuna fisheries.
